Visible veins, facial redness, and vascular lesions can affect the clarity and evenness of the skin on both the face and body. At Dr. Kaga’s NJ practice, we use the excel® V+ laser system from Cutera to precisely target unwanted blood vessels while minimizing damage to the surrounding skin.
Whether you’re concerned about spider veins, broken capillaries, persistent facial redness, or other vascular lesions, our team customizes treatment based on the size, depth, color, and location of the vessels. With locations in Marlboro and East Brunswick, we provide personalized laser vein and vascular treatments for patients throughout Central New Jersey.
How does excel® V+ treat veins and vascular lesions?
excel V+ uses specialized laser wavelengths that are selectively absorbed by targeted blood vessels beneath the skin. The laser energy heats the vessel, causing it to close. Over time, the body naturally clears the treated vessel, making it progressively less visible.
Because vascular concerns can occur at different depths and vary significantly in size, excel V+ allows our team to customize the wavelength, energy, and treatment settings for the specific concern rather than treating every vessel the same way.

What can excel® V+ treat?
Dr. Kaga’s team can use excel® V+ to address a variety of vascular concerns on the face and body, including:
- Spider veins on the face and legs
- Small visible leg veins
- Facial redness and rosacea-related redness
- Broken capillaries and visible vessels around the nose
- Cherry angiomas
- Certain visible veins around the eyes
- Venous lakes
- Other appropriate vascular lesions
Not every visible vein is appropriate for cosmetic laser treatment. Our team will evaluate the area first to determine whether excel V+ is suitable or whether another type of medical evaluation or treatment is recommended.
Why choose excel® V+?
One of the advantages of excel V+ is its ability to address different types and depths of vascular concerns with one versatile laser platform.
Its dual-wavelength technology allows our team to target both superficial and deeper vascular concerns, making it useful for everything from small facial vessels and redness to appropriate veins on the body. Treatment settings can be adjusted according to the vessel rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.
excel V+ can also address certain pigmentation concerns, making it particularly useful when redness, visible vessels, and uneven skin tone occur together.

How should I prepare for treatment?
Before your appointment, you may be asked to avoid tanning, excessive sun exposure, and self-tanning products in the treatment area. Depending on the area, shaving may also be recommended before your visit.
Our team will provide specific instructions based on your skin, medications, treatment area, and the type of vascular concern being addressed.
What can I expect during treatment?
During treatment, the excel V+ handpiece delivers controlled pulses of laser energy directly to the targeted vessels. You may experience brief warmth, cooling, or a snapping sensation as the laser is delivered.
Sessions often take approximately 15 to 30 minutes, although treatment time depends on the size and number of areas being treated. Temporary redness, swelling, bruising, or other localized reactions can occur afterward, but most patients can return to their normal routine relatively quickly.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments depends on the type, size, depth, location, and number of vessels being addressed. Some vascular concerns may respond after a small number of treatments, while others benefit from a series of sessions.
Results also develop gradually as the body clears the treated vessels over the following weeks. After evaluating your skin and vascular concerns, our team will recommend a treatment schedule based on your individual needs.
Are excel® V+ vein treatments permanent?
Once a successfully treated vessel is closed and cleared by the body, that particular vessel should not simply reopen. However, laser treatment cannot prevent new visible vessels from developing in the future.
Genetics, aging, sun exposure, rosacea, hormonal changes, and other factors can contribute to new vascular concerns over time. Additional or maintenance treatments may therefore be appropriate for some patients.
