truFlex® is a non-invasive muscle sculpting treatment designed to strengthen, firm, and tone targeted muscle groups without surgery or downtime. Using Multi-Directional Stimulation (MDS) technology, truFlex creates controlled muscle contractions and can be customized based on your fitness level, body shape, and goals.

At Dr. Kaga’s NJ practice, truFlex can target areas such as the abdomen, obliques, glutes, and thighs to help improve muscle tone and create greater definition.

How does truFlex® muscle sculpting work?

truFlex uses electrical muscle stimulation to create a series of controlled muscle contractions that exercise targeted muscle groups. Its Multi-Directional Stimulation technology incorporates three treatment modes — Prep, Tone, and Sculpt — designed to progressively warm up, condition, and challenge the muscles during treatment. The intensity can be adjusted throughout your session based on your comfort level and treatment goals.

What areas can truFlex® treat?

truFlex can be used to strengthen and tone several areas of the body, including:

  • Abdomen
  • Obliques
  • Glutes
  • Thighs

Multiple areas can be treated depending on your individualized treatment plan.

truFlex is intended for muscle conditioning and definition rather than weight loss or direct fat reduction. If unwanted fat is also contributing to the area you’d like to improve, Dr. Kaga’s team may recommend combining muscle sculpting with a body contouring treatment.onal definition in specific areas.

Why choose truFlex®?

Even with regular exercise, certain muscle groups can be difficult to develop or define as much as you’d like. truFlex provides targeted stimulation to supplement your existing fitness and body contouring efforts.

Benefits may include:

  • Improved muscle tone and definition
  • Strengthening of targeted muscle groups
  • Customizable treatment intensity
  • Treatment of multiple muscle groups
  • Non-invasive sessions
  • No required downtime

truFlex can be particularly appealing to patients who already maintain an active lifestyle but want additional definition in specific areas.

What can I expect during a truFlex® treatment?

truFlex applicators are positioned over the muscles being treated, and electrical stimulation creates repeated muscle contractions.

The intensity gradually increases according to your comfort level. Most patients describe the sensation as similar to performing an intense workout, with the muscles repeatedly contracting and relaxing throughout the session.

Afterward, the treated muscles may feel fatigued or worked, much as they would following exercise, but you can typically return to your normal activities.

How many truFlex® treatments will I need?

truFlex is generally performed as a series rather than a single treatment.

A treatment plan of approximately four to six sessions may be recommended, although the number of sessions will depend on your starting muscle condition and goals.

Your provider will develop a treatment schedule based on the areas you want to strengthen and the degree of definition you’re looking to achieve.

When will I see results?

Changes in muscle tone and definition develop progressively throughout and following your treatment series. As with exercise, individual results vary based on factors such as your starting muscle condition, body composition, activity level, and treatment plan. Maintaining regular physical activity and a healthy lifestyle can help support your results.

truFlex® vs. truSculpt®: What’s the difference?

Although both are used for body contouring, truFlex and truSculpt address different concerns.

truSculpt® uses radiofrequency energy to target areas of stubborn fat. truFlex uses electrical stimulation to condition and strengthen muscle.

If you’d like to address both fat reduction and muscle definition, the two technologies can also be incorporated into a truBody® treatment plan.

What about PureImpact™?

Dr. Kaga’s practice also offers PureImpact™, another non-invasive technology designed for muscle stimulation and body contouring.

While both truFlex and PureImpact target muscle, they use different technologies and may be recommended for different treatment goals and patient needs. Rather than choosing based on a device name, Dr. Kaga’s team can help determine which approach is better suited to your body and goals.
