How does Dysport® work?
Many wrinkles and fine lines develop from years of repeated facial movement. Frowning, squinting, and other expressions cause the muscles beneath the skin to contract, gradually creating lines that may become more noticeable over time.
Dysport contains abobotulinumtoxinA, a botulinum toxin type A that temporarily reduces nerve signals to specifically targeted muscles. As those muscles relax, the frown lines between the eyebrows gradually appear smoother.

What can I expect during treatment?
Your appointment begins with an evaluation of your face at rest and in motion. Dr. Kaga may ask you to frown or make other facial expressions to identify the muscles contributing to the lines you’d like to address.
Dysport is then administered using a very fine needle at carefully selected injection points. Treatment itself typically takes only a few minutes, and most patients describe the injections as brief pinches.
You can generally return to your normal routine afterward. Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising at the injection sites can occur, and Dr. Kaga will provide specific aftercare instructions.
When will I see results and how long will they last?
Dysport is known for its relatively quick onset. Some patients begin noticing improvement within two to three days, with results continuing to develop over the following days.
Results may last approximately three to four months for many patients, although individual duration varies. Clinical studies have shown improvement lasting up to five months in some patients.
Your muscle strength, treatment area, dose, metabolism, and individual response can all influence how long your results last.
Dysport® vs. BOTOX® Cosmetic
Dysport and BOTOX® Cosmetic are both botulinum toxin type A neuromodulators, but they are different formulations with different dosing characteristics.
Neither is automatically better for everyone. Some patients prefer the way Dysport works for them, while others may be better suited to BOTOX, Xeomin®, or DAXXIFY®.
